Three Amazing Five-Star Book Recs and All the Spice
Hello, romance readers!
Can you believe we’re already at the end of June? I try to pack as much reading time into my schedule, and this month was no exception. June brought a whirlwind of romance, from magical fantasies to swoon-worthy love interests and everything in between.
But before getting started, this is a friendly reminder to be aware of your triggers and to check for any necessary trigger warnings associated with the titles below.
Now, sit back, relax, and join me as I spill the tea on what I read in June. Let’s dive right in!
What I Read in June: 2023 Edition

Kate by Tate James
Overall: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Thoughts from the BWBH
Oh man, let me tell you, when I say I loved the Madison Kate series, I mean I am head over heels obsessed with it! I couldn’t get enough. I devoured those books like it was my job, and let me tell you, the audiobooks took James’ storytelling to the next level. Seriously, I’d listen to them all over again without thinking twice. James is a freaking genius; she hooked me from start to finish. After finishing the Madison Kate series, I immediately added 7th Circle to my July TBR list. I can’t wait to dive back into Shadow Grove! This series is now one of my top book recommendations to romance readers.

A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas
Overall: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Thoughts from the BWBH
Okay, let me just say this: Rhysand walked so Cassian could RUN.
Seriously though, Cassian intrigued me before A Court of Silver Flames, but holy smokes, now I totally get why everyone is head over heels for him! Seeing the ACOTAR universe through his eyes and his fiery connection with Nesta was next-level steam. And can we talk about Nesta? My feelings towards her changed from spoiled princess to BAMF! And the Valkyries? I adore these women and aspire to be their newest friend.

Four Psychos by Kristy Cunning
Overall: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Thoughts from the BWBH
I’m so excited to continue this series! I flew through this book in a day and couldn’t put it down for a second. Now, I’m ready to dive deeper into Keyla’s world and get to know her “horsemen” even better in the next few books. I’ve got my fingers crossed for some serious reverse harem spice. 🤞Give me all the intense moments and sizzling chemistry! I can’t wait to see what Cunning has for us next.

Titan by Jillian Graves
Overall: ⭐⭐⭐
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Thoughts from the BWBH
The book was alright, but it’s something I’d not go back and read again. The main thing was the relationship between the main characters. Something felt off, and it didn’t fit together. The storyline could have been stronger.

Priest by Sierra Simone
Overall: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Thoughts from the BWBH
Priest has been sitting on my to-be-read list for ages, and I’m so freaking thrilled that I finally got around to reading it! Let me tell you, that altar scene? It was an absolute blessing. I mean, talk about intense and erotic! Simone nailed it. But you know what else impressed me? The way she portrayed the crisis of faith the main character went through after crossing paths with Poppy. It was raw and honest and added a whole new layer of depth to the story. Simone really knocked it out of the park with that one.

Court of Nightmares by K.A. Knight
Overall: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Thoughts from the BWBH
Holy hell, Court of Nightmares was absolute fire! Seriously, I couldn’t put this book down. If you’re a fan of a reverse harem and you like your romance with a side of extreme spice, this one’s for you.
Althea is a badass – she’s fierce and independent, and no one will mess with her. And let’s not forget about her kings—seven of them and one queen? Count me in! The chemistry between them all hooked me completely. Definitely a must-read for readers that love their spice hot and heavy.

That Sik Luv by Jescie Hall
Overall: ⭐⭐⭐
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Thoughts from the BWBH
I’ve got some seriously mixed feelings about this book. Going into it, I knew it would be a dark read, but damn, some of what happened in the church hit close to home. It was heavy stuff, no doubt. But you know what? I don’t regret reading it for a second. Despite the challenging subject matter, Jescie Hall’s unique writing style captivated me. If you’re into dark romance, I recommend checking out this author. Just be prepared to go on one hell of a ride.

Muscles & Monsters by Ashley Bennett
Overall: ⭐⭐⭐
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Thoughts from the BWBH
Muscles & Monsters was a fun, quick read. I wouldn’t reread it, but I enjoyed it enough that I am interested in reading book two. I recommend it if you want a light read that brings some spice.

The Heart Hassle Series by Raven Kennedy
Overall: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Thoughts from the BWBH
I absolutely adore Elle’s mates in The Heart Hassle series! Sure, they were a bit stubborn at first, but once they got their act together, they treated her like the freaking queen she would become. And let’s talk about Elle herself. She might not be the best cupid, but her unconventional approach to matchmaking? It surprisingly works like a charm. If you’re looking for a short series filled with humor and heart, I recommend diving into The Heart Hassle series. It’s like a delightful dose of laughter and warm fuzzies all rolled into one.

Ruthless Creatures by J.T. Geissinger
Overall: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Thoughts from the BWBH
Excuse me, where can I get myself a Kage? Natalie and Kage’s relationship is off-the-charts intense! She handled him being second in command of the Russian mob better than most of us. While she had trouble adjusting to his love language (gifts) and extended time apart, they eventually found their HEA in NYC (with Mojo!).

And that’s a wrap on my June reading, fellow romance readers!
From the forbidden allure of Priest by Sierra Simone to the fiery reverse harem romance in Kate by Tate James and the hilarious and enchanting world of The Heart Hassle Series by Raven Kennedy, this month was packed with emotions and unforgettable stories.
